Khairunisa is a student-led NGO, an initiative started by two young girls, which believes in cultivating an environment that fosters growth, providing education, skills and resources that enable women to thrive in any field they choose. We strive to create a platform where every woman’s voice is heard, where barriers are shattered and opportunities are increased, eliminating any stigma attached to their personal hygiene. This journey involves our commitment to nurturing a society where empowerment knows no bounds. With this aim in mind, their work with HRS covered three major aspects: Personal Health and Hygiene, Domestic Violence, and Women Employment.
Team Khairunisa has also been continuously visiting Humaira Riaz School where they most recently carried out an Empathy Project to cultivate a supportive environment.
The Entrepreneurial Project:
At Humaira Riaz School, the project focused on an understanding of loans and microfinance. TheEmployment Heads for Khairunisa gave a short seminar to the students, teaching them about the importance of being financially independent and the ways through which they can achieve that. The team showed students videos of women who started their own businesses through the Aga Khan Agency for Microfinance. Real life examples helped motivated the students and made them passionate about starting their own businesses in the future. Furthermore, they carried out a very interactive Business Fair where the children were requested to pitch the products assigned to them such as: Shezan, Nestle, etc. to the judges and request loans from them. Sequentially, the students were asked to market their brand which was followed by a detailed question and answer session. This project showcased student creativity (as they designed their stalls) and helped promote teamwork skills.
