The Global Schools Program is an initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network in support of UNESCO’s Global Action Program on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). The Global Schools Program develops the tools, resources and pedagogical structures to support education systems around the globe in shaping a more resilient and sustainable world.
As a part of this program in our school, Global Schools Advocate and Mentor, Syed Nwa Abbas Rizvi, conducted teacher training sessions focused on including Education for Sustainable Development in teaching methodologies, content, and resources for the subject specific curriculum already being implemented. The training also allowed teachers of HRHS to develop cross-curricular links and hone their teaching skills to facilitate interdisciplinary learning.
Under the Global Schools Program, students of HRHS participated in project-based, experiential, and collaborative learning approaches. They used understanding of their context and materials from the local community to create an awareness campaign which was targeted towards addressing the high-impact of change in their area. Through this program, the students have learned and continue responding to the greatest challenges of this century and shaping a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
